Originally started by Frankie Blackwell many moons ago, RMS (or Road Management Services) was originally one rehearsal room and a storage space of equipment (PA’s and backline/instruments) that Frankie and his good friend Tubs would maintain and hire out. Clients ranged from Joe Cocker to John Mclaughlin and everyone in-between. Frankie eventually decided to downscale equipment and build a second rehearsal room, before he sadly passed away.
His daughter Emma then took over the studio and for 20 or so years she put her heart and soul into the place, adding a well needed woman’s touch to it, building a third studio and transforming RMS into a vibrant studio for musicians to practice in, until eventually she decided a change of career was necessary.
Dan and Eddie met at RMS Studios 20 years ago. Eddie was producing in his little cave there, and Dan was attaching corrugated panels to the brick arch. He had a ghetto blaster that was “blasting” Bitches Brew. Eddie said to himself, he said, this is someone worth saying hello to. So he stopped doing what he was doing and crept out of his cave to say ‘ello. Then they went down the local pub - The Eight Bells, where they stayed for three days and became firm friends. From then onwards, they worked on many musical projects together, playing in a band, sharing a production studio - or more a “sound laboratory” - and even writing an album. Now, they have embarked on another project, running and managing the very same studio they met in.
They are both musicians. Fine ones. Eddie is also an award winning producer, specialising in bonkers music, though a phobia of social media means he’s completely unknown and likes it so. Their vision is to create a hub for musicians and crew, to do all they can to help and support music in this little corner of London. Equipment is gradually being updated, as are the rooms. More on this here soon. Come down and say hello - the door is always open, figuratively speaking that is…
